Working in Australia
Experience the Great Outdoors
Australia is known for its great outdoors, its hot weather and fantastic beaches where you can swim and surf all year round. Australians enjoy a lifestyle most northern hemisphere people can only dream of. The large state capital cities are vibrant and lively cities that offer some of the best attractions you’ll see anywhere.
Working as a doctor in Australia offers different challenges and experiences depending on where you decide to work - in the metropolitan or rural areas or in the vast expanses of the outback.
Medical Registration in Australia
To work as a doctor in Australia, you must be registered with the Australian Medical Council and the relevant medical board of the state in which you wish to work. Triple0 Medical Recruitment will co-ordinate your applications and will assist you every step of the way.
International Medical Graduates may be eligible for registration either via the Competent Authority Pathway (for those having met certain requirements and graduating from New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada or USA), or the Standard Pathway. The Standard Pathway requires applicants to have successfully passed the Australian Medical Council Multi Choice Examination (AMC MCQs) and to have completed a period of supervised practice.
Doctors who have obtained their primary medical degree from Australia or New Zealand are eligible for general registration in all states of Australia.
Overseas trained doctors from outside these two countries may be eligible for general registration once they have passed the Australian Medical Council (AMC) exams and completed a period of supervised practice.
Overseas trained specialists can apply for recognition or assessment of their specialist qualifications through the Australian Medical Council and the relevant specialist college.
