Fish & Chips & Beer Have Never Tasted So Good
Five Reasons to do the Coast to Coast

Tue 13 Apr 2010
We recently sponsored one of our doctors, Dr Sophie Hart, in the Speights Coast to Coast. Not only did she complete it but she came third in her category, crossing the South Island in under 12 hours!
In this world premier multi-sport event, competitors traverse 243 kms from Kumara Beach on the West Coast to Sumner in Christchurch.
Why on earth would you put yourself through such pain? I hear you asking. Well Sophie put us straight:
The Challenge:
A lot of people underestimate themselves and their abilities. You can do it you just need to back yourself. It is not supposed to be easy, if it was everyone would do it.
The Course:
The Coast to Coast has the most spectacular course of any race of its kind. The run takes you high up into the mountains to one of those places where the water is clearer than the air.
The Atmosphere:
It is truly amazing to be part of something so big with about 800 competitors and even more supporters, it's great fun to be amongst it all. The atmosphere is truly amped.
The Sense of Achievement:
Crossing the finish line is a pretty amazing feeling. It is not every day you cross the South Island using your own steam!
The Fish & Chips & Beer:
They will never taste as good as they do after such an event.
