Locum Psychiatrists

• Role based in the general hospital working in a multi-disciplinary team of mental health professionals (nursing, social work). Twice daily triage of mental health referrals from hospital wards and allocation of assessments for that day/week. Assessments are for current hospital inpatients and are usually related to mental health issues that have arisen secondary to physical illness, decompensation of existing mental illness secondary to physical health issue, delirium secondary to physical health issue, concerns about capacity/cognition/dementia symptoms secondary to admission for primary physical health issue. This request is to cover our part time consultant who is going on annual leave, support of two registrars in the team would be required as well as direct patient support.

Assessments are for current hospital inpatients and are usually related to mental health issues that have arisen secondary to physical illness, decompensation of existing mental illness secondary to physical health issue, delirium secondary to physical health issue, concerns about capacity/cognition/dementia symptoms secondary to admission for primary physical health issue. This request is to cover our full time consultant who is going on leave for two weeks, support of two registrars in the team would be required as well as direct patient support. Wellington CL also employs two part time consultants who work approx. 1.5 days each in the service.
