Triple0 Medical is recruiting for a Research Physician or General Practitioner or General Physician with Research Experience to support the delivery of high-quality clinical trials based at Whangarei Hospital.
This is a part-time opportunity for a New Zealand-registered doctor who is interested in clinical research, participant care, evidence-based medicine, and contributing to the development of innovative medicines and therapies.
About the Role
As a Research Physician, you will play a key role in the safe and effective delivery of clinical trials at site level. You may act as either Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator, providing clinical leadership, participant oversight, protocol compliance, and support to the wider research team.
The role involves working across both commercial and grant-funded clinical trials, ensuring participants receive high-quality clinical care while maintaining the integrity, safety, and compliance standards required in clinical research.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

Act as Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator on clinical trials.

Provide clinical oversight and leadership to research team members.

Conduct participant visits in accordance with trial protocols.

Review laboratory results, adverse events, and clinical information in a timely manner.

Ensure trials are conducted in line with ICH-GCP and regulatory requirements.

Support participant recruitment strategies and achievement of trial targets.

Liaise with sponsors, monitors, medical monitors, and other key stakeholders.

Investigate and manage protocol deviations or violations.

Support quality assurance, monitoring, audit processes, and accurate clinical trial documentation.

Work collaboratively with research nurses, coordinators, pharmacists, clinical trial staff, and external partners.

Maintain culturally sensitive, participant-centred care, particularly within the diverse Northland community.
About You
You will be a qualified medical practitioner with strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills, and an interest in clinical research.
You will bring:

A medical qualification.

Current New Zealand Practising Certificate.

Recent practical clinical experience.

Strong patient assessment skills.
-
Sound understanding of legal and ethical responsibilities.

Confidence using clinical information systems and technology.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

A proactive, organised, and solution-focused approach.
Highly Desirable
Experience in clinical research trials would be highly regarded, along with:

Current GCP certification.

Knowledge of ICH-GCP requirements.

Previous experience working with eSource, CTMS, EDC, or other electronic clinical trial systems.

Approximately three years’ post-registration clinical experience.

Ability to interpret and apply research findings in a clinical setting.
