Required Skills & Essential Qualifications
- Proven clinical capability in theatre nursing, with experience in perioperative care.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong focus on patient safety, quality standards, and infection control.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability to varying surgical procedures and patient needs.
- Must be registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ).
Nice to Have Skills
- Experience in orthopaedic, general, or vascular surgery.
- Prior experience in a rural or regional hospital setting.
- Knowledge of Up-to-date perioperative protocols and best practices.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and ongoing learning.
Preferred Experience
- Demonstrated experience in managing surgical cases from pre-op to post-op in busy hospital settings.
- Ability to prioritize clinical tasks and escalate concerns effectively.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Evidence of participation in quality improvement initiatives or theatre audits.
- Strong interpersonal skills to support patient comfort and staff collaboration.

- Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
- Flexibility to work on a roster with possible on-call duties.
- Successful completion of standard onboarding and compliance checks.
- Ability to travel and stay in Timaru for the duration of the locum assignment.
