Required Skills & Essential Qualifications:

• Proven expertise in colorectal surgical procedures, including minimally invasive techniques
• Strong clinical judgment with the ability to work effectively in a busy hospital environment
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage with patients thoughtfully
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in surgical practice
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize needs and adapt to changing clinical situations
• Must be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience in laparoscopic or advanced colorectal procedures
• Familiarity with multidisciplinary cancer care teams
• Certification in relevant professional development or quality improvement initiatives
• Knowledge of current best practices and innovative surgical techniques

Preferred Experience:

• Relevant postgraduate clinical experience in a surgical or colorectal specialty setting
• Proven capabilities in clinical reasoning, case prioritization, and escalation processes
• Demonstrated teamwork in multidisciplinary healthcare environments
• Evidence of ongoing professional development, including audits, teaching, or QI projects

• Eligibility to work in New Zealand without restrictions
• Flexibility to participate in on-call and on-site rotations as required
• Successful completion of standard onboarding and compliance checks
