Required Skills & Essential Qualifications

• Proven clinical expertise in anaesthesia, with the ability to manage a broad range of cases efficiently and safely
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with surgeons, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals
• Ability to work calmly and accurately in high-pressure situations within a busy clinical environment
• Commitment to safety and quality improvement in patient care
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships within multidisciplinary teams
• Must be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience in paediatric or obstetric anaesthesia
• Familiarity with advanced airway management techniques
• Ability to participate in clinical audits, education, or quality improvement projects
• Knowledge of regional or pain management techniques
• Previous experience in regional or rural healthcare settings

Preferred Experience

• Relevant postgraduate clinical experience in acute or elective surgical settings
• Demonstrated clinical reasoning, prioritisation, and escalation skills
• Evidence of ongoing professional development through audits, teaching, or quality improvement initiatives
• Team-based practice experience in multidisciplinary environments
• Ability to adapt to a variety of clinical challenges in a busy healthcare setting
