Required Skills & Essential Qualifications

• Proven clinical capability in paediatric medicine, with a strong focus on patient safety and quality care.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to remain calm and focused in a busy clinical environment while prioritising patient needs.
• Demonstrated teamwork and collaborative approach to healthcare delivery.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards and continuous improvement.
• Must be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience in acute paediatric care or emergency paediatrics.
• Knowledge of current paediatric guidelines and best practices.
• Experience working in rural or regional healthcare settings.
• Skills in mentoring or teaching junior staff and students.
• Interest or experience in quality improvement initiatives.

Preferred Experience

• Relevant postgraduate clinical experience in paediatrics within hospital or community settings.
• Strong clinical reasoning, prioritisation, and escalation skills.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development through audits, teaching, or quality initiatives.
• Comfort working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a diverse patient caseload.

Other Requirements

• Must hold appropriate NZ registration as applicable to the role.
• Flexibility to participate in on-call and weekend duty rosters.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
• Successful completion of onboarding and compliance checks.
