Required Skills & Essential Qualifications

• Strong capability in general medicine and the assessment and management of a broad range of patients.
• Excellent clinical reasoning, prioritisation, documentation, and escalation skills.
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, wh?nau, colleagues, and multidisciplinary teams.
• A strong commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and professional standards.
• Ability to remain effective in a busy clinical environment and manage competing priorities.
• Must be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience contributing to service improvement, clinical audit, or teaching.
• Confidence supporting junior colleagues and sharing clinical knowledge.
• Familiarity with electronic clinical documentation and hospital information systems.
• Interest in developing services and strengthening patient pathways.
• Experience working across different areas of general medicine.

Preferred Experience

• Recent experience in general medicine within a hospital or comparable clinical setting.
• Experience managing complex patients with multiple clinical needs.
• Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience participating in rostered, on-call, or acute medical services.
• Ongoing involvement in clinical development, teaching, audit, or quality improvement.
