Required Skills & Essential Qualifications

• Must be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
• Strong clinical capability in anaesthesia and perioperative care.
• Excellent communication skills with patients, wh?nau and multidisciplinary teams.
• A clear commitment to patient safety, quality care and professional standards.
• Ability to assess complex situations, prioritise effectively and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Confidence working in a busy clinical environment while maintaining a calm and professional approach.
• Collaborative, reliable and adaptable approach to team-based practice.

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience across a range of anaesthetic procedures and clinical settings.
• Familiarity with quality improvement, clinical audit or service development activities.
• Experience supporting teaching, supervision or mentoring.
• Strong understanding of effective perioperative communication and coordination.
• Interest in contributing to a positive workplace culture.

Preferred Experience

• Relevant postgraduate clinical experience in anaesthesia or similar services.
• Experience managing competing clinical priorities in a busy environment.
• Demonstrated clinical reasoning, decision-making and escalation skills.
• Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development through teaching, audit or quality improvement involvement.

Other Requirements

• Current eligibility to work in New Zealand.
• Flexibility to participate in rostered duties, including on-call work where required.
• Completion of standard onboarding, compliance and pre-employment checks.
• Commitment to maintaining accurate clinical documentation and following workplace policies and procedures.
