Required Skills & Essential Qualifications

• Strong general medicine capability, with sound assessment, diagnostic and patient-management skills.
• Excellent communication skills and a patient-centred approach to care.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong clinical reasoning, prioritisation and escalation skills.
• Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and professional standards.
• Ability to remain organised and effective in a busy clinical environment.
• Must be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience supporting teaching, mentoring or supervision within a clinical team.
• Interest in quality improvement, clinical audit or service development.
• Confidence using electronic clinical systems and digital documentation tools.
• Experience contributing to service planning or pathway improvement.
• Adaptability across a range of general medical presentations.

Preferred Experience

• Relevant postgraduate clinical experience in general medicine or a similar hospital setting.
• Experience managing patients with complex or multiple medical needs.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and respond appropriately to changing clinical demands.
• Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary environments.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development through teaching, audit or quality improvement involvement.

• Current eligibility to work in New Zealand.
• Availability to participate in rostered duties and on-call arrangements, as required.
• Ability to complete standard onboarding, employment and compliance checks.
• Commitment to maintaining accurate clinical records and following relevant workplace procedures.
