Required Skills & Essential Qualifications

• Specialist clinical capability in colorectal surgery, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and operative care.
• Strong communication skills with patients, families and multidisciplinary colleagues.
• A collaborative approach to working within a busy surgical and hospital environment.
• Commitment to patient safety, clinical quality, effective risk management and continuous improvement.
• Sound clinical judgement, prioritisation and escalation skills.
• Must be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).

• Experience contributing to service improvement, clinical audits or quality initiatives.
• Confidence supporting teaching, supervision or professional development within a clinical team.
• Experience managing a broad range of colorectal presentations.

• Relevant postgraduate clinical experience in colorectal surgery or a similar surgical service.

• Experience contributing to teaching, audit, service development or quality improvement.
• Experience providing patient-centred care in a regional or similarly varied healthcare setting.

• Flexibility to participate in rostered duties and on-call arrangements, where required.
• Completion of standard onboarding, compliance and pre-engagement checks.
• Ability to relocate to or work in Greymouth for the duration of the engagement.
